Introversion and shyness are gifts, embracing them is a skill to learn.

We can tell our stories in ways that make us stronger,
in ways that soothe the losses, in ways that ease sorrow.
- David Denborough

Growing up in my culture, discussing so-called 'negative emotions' was often avoided. As a result, I found image-making to be my emotional outlet. In this project, I delves deeper into the impact of image-making on myself. I designed a therapeutic process that guided me towards deeper meanings of my re-occurring feelings that stem from my shyness and introversion.
'Introversion and shyness are gifts, embracing them is a skill to learn.' is the message I learned and want to delivver through this project. The work was presented as an installation in the RCA grad show in 2019, inviting viewers to engage with the pieces in a shoegazing posture.
I tried to depict a variety of introverted and shy feelings, translating subtle emotions into tangible, visually tactile images. This project was a self-help therapy for me, and it discloses how I, an introverted and shy person, feel in my daily life. While everyone falls in a different place on the introversion-extraversion spectrum, I hope this project still resonates with you to some extent.

Tell all the truth but tell it slant —
Success in Circuit lies
Too bright for our infirm Delight
The Truth's superb surprise
As Lightning to the Children eased
With explanation kind
The Truth must dazzle gradually
Or every man be blind —
- Emily Dickinson
